Mr. Saeeq Shajjan Founder and Managing Partner and Mr. Naseebullah Esmaty Associate Attorney from Shajjan & Associates were appointed by Commercial Law Development Program, United States Department of Commerce (CLDP) and Afghanistan Center for Commercial Dispute Resolution (ACDR) to Arbitrate the 4th Annual Afghanistan Willem C. Vis Moot Competition. The Competition was held at Afghanistan Center for Commercial Dispute Resolution on December 1, 2017. Three best teams, American University of Afghanistan, Kardan University and Nangrahar University qualified to represent Afghanistan in International Moot competitions (Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot) which will be held in 2018 in Hong Kong and Vienna.

The Afghanistan Pre-Moot simulate the Vis Moot competition and prepare students in the areas of oral and written advocacy, commercial arbitration, and critical thinking in order to train law students to meet the International standards in alternative dispute resolution.

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is a competition for law students from all over the globe. The Moot involves a dispute arising out of a contract of sale between two countries that are party to the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.

The goal of the Moot is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international business disputes by training the leaders of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution.
