Mr. Baset is practicing law under the license number 149 from the Afghanistan Independent Bar Association. This number itself is self-evident that Mr. Baset was one of first few licensed attorneys to practice law in Afghanistan. Mr. Baset is one of the leading names in the judicial sector in Afghanistan, with his prime focus on property and Banking law. Having more than fifteen years of experience practicing Law, Mr. Baset is well-known for representing high-profile clients before courts in Afghanistan. Furthermore, he has also represented clients in matters related to criminal, commercial, civil and Islamic finance issues.
Mr. Baset has played a major role in building the capacity of legal fraternity by conducting legal training at various levels, such as capacity building projects along with the Godfather of International Criminal Law Mr. M. Cherif Bassiouni through the International Institute of High Studies in Criminal Science in 2005. Through the mentioned projects, Mr. Baset was greatly involved in training Afghan judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys and young graduates of Afghan law schools from across Afghanistan. He has conducted training through ISISC in partnership with UNODC for judges, prosecutors and police officers in 24 provinces of Afghanistan on criminal procedure code, police law, anti-narcotics, juvenile justice, code of conduct of judges and prison law.
He holds L.L.B Degree from the most prestigious Faculty of Sharia and Law, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt.
